Tianfei was born in Nanjing, China, and stayed there till he received this B.S. in medicinal chemistry from China Pharmaceutical University in 2008. Later, he spent about 5 years with Prof. Qilong Shen studying organofluorine chemistry and received his Ph.D. in Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, UCAS in 2014. After shortly being as a research assistant in Center of Basic Molecular Science at Tsinghua University for half a year, he joined in Prof. Leif Hammarström’s group at Uppsala University in Sweden. Since 2015, he has been focusing on the mechanism study of solar fuel proxy-catalysts, especially their Proton-Coupled Electron Transfer (PCET) reactions. After a 3-years scientific odyssey in Europe, he moved to UNC, Chapel Hill for his second-round postdoc training under Alex’s supervision, pursuing challenging topics in the area of solar fuels.
