Miller Group Vision and Goals

The Miller group strives to achieve excellence in organometallic catalysis research, to apply a proactive and thoughtful approach to safe laboratory practices, and to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for scientists from all backgrounds. Our overarching approach leverages molecular-level mechanistic details to guide the design of catalysts for the sustainable production of fuels and chemical building blocks. Our projects involve organometallic synthesis and characterization, stoichiometric and catalytic reactivity studies, as well as detailed mechanistic studies as means to provide fundamental understanding for catalytic processes.

Commitment to Health and Wellness

The Miller group is committed to fostering a safe working environment and to support the health and wellness of its members. We empower researchers to build a strong safety culture, and we emphasize open communication and continued training. We recognize the importance of a good work-life balance, and care about each other’s well-being.

Commitment to Diversity

The Miller Lab is dedicated to increasing diversity in STEM as well as amplifying the voices and roles of people from groups that are underrepresented in STEM. We believe that a team with diverse views, experiences, and skills will lead to more creative and exciting science. We are continually working to build and maintain such a team.

Commitment to Community Outreach

The Miller group endeavors to share its experiences and knowledge with the greater North Carolina community. Each year, Miller group members participate in a number of outreach events and clubs designed to increase scientific literacy and inspire the next generation of scientists.
